Challenge

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2024, the world's leading trade fair for professional audio and video, was held in Barcelona from 31 January to 3 February 2024. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, and with the aim of making it the best edition ever, the largest transparent LED screen was installed and for the first time loudspeakers were installed at the main entrance. Ecler was the company chosen to manage the entire audio installation, as well as being responsible for the ISE Club Experience, where some of the best national and international DJs welcomed the attendees.

Solution

Ecler curated the ISE Club Experience, an event that took place in the reception at the south entrance of Fira Gran Via during the days of the fair. The DJ section of the Ecler brand was in charge of selecting several of the best national and international DJs to turn ISE into an electronic music club at his best. 

ISE Club Experience used the Ecler 360° sound system installed in the Fira Barcelona lobby, consisting of 16 ARQIS208i loudspeakers, powered by eLPA low-impedance amplifiers and controlled by an EclerNet Manager project housed in a MIMO88SG.

The booth, located at the information desk in the entrance lobby, featured an Ecler WARM4 mixer, 2 Technics turntables and 3 Pioneer CDJs. The monitoring system consisted of 2 NIMBO-26 Gold speakers at ear level and an ARQISSB15i subwoofer, powered by the latest VIDA-16Q digital amplifier, offering the djs not only a sound reference but also a comfortable mixing experience.

International artists such as Gerd Janson and upsammy, or local artists such as the rising star Spacer, the Deep house artist Silvia Zaragoza, or Ibiza house legend Cesar de Melero, were some of the artists who passed through the DJ booth.

An Ecler Dante DN44BOB interface, connected to the output of the WARM4 mixer, made it possible to send the djs' audio signal through the local network to different destinations such as the speakers installed outside the Fira, or in the control room on floor 1 with the mediaserver that fed the innovative screen located on the façade.

The MUXWAVE M3 LED screen with a pixel pitch of 3.9 mm and a size of 193 m2, the largest installed in Europe, is now permanently part of the Fira façade after ISE 2024.

The company Realtime Department was in charge of providing the visual content, using two rendering machines, which received the signal from the DJ booth to create an interactive animation in real time.

On Wednesday 31 at 7pm, Jeroen Van Der Most, one of the show's keynote speakers, presented the immersive projection Bee Barcelona, an AI-based replica of his creative mind, offering an exploration of his thoughts merged with those of a bee.

His audio setup, based on a NUC for AI sound generation and Resolume VJ software on his laptop, configured its output to connect to Ecler's DN44BOB interface to include the projection source in the sound system. Through the WPNETTOUCH screen and a custom-made UCP control panel, the sources and volumes of the installation were managed.

Results

Taking advantage of the Ecler fixed installation at the entrance of Fira, and thanks to the flexibility and scalability of EclerNet Manager, all the requirements requested by ISE organizers were met. All audio sources in the system maintained the Ecler quality standard, without any latency, and with control by the fingertips thanks to the UCP panel that allowed volume adjustment and processing of the djs' sound, as well as PA, screen sound and Jeroen Van Der Most's projection.
